چکیده

The first hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) program in Latin America started 1979 at the federal university hospital Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. Over years, number of centers performing transplants our country has increased tremendously, generating need to know results this treatment modality. Understanding HSCT scenario Brazil is still challenging, since not all Brazilian report data Center for International Blood and Marrow Research (CIBMTR). Despite improvement reporting over past few infrastructure trained managers are lacking. partnership between Cellular Therapy Bone Transplant Society (SBTMO) CIBMTR enabled establishment Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Registry (HSCTBR), using Data Back (DBtC) tool retrieve a standardized organized way. Since then, it been possible gather country-level on demographics transplant outcomes. Between 2012 2022, complete information 9,868 were reported from 40 centers. consolidation HSCTBR allowed development regular update Summary Slides. differences cases follow-up time, study similar those presented United States (US) In paper we present 2023 SBTMO-CIBMTR Slides prepared by SBTMO (GD-SBTMO).

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Thalassemia

Thalassemia is an autosomal recessive disorder associated with defective synthesis of the α- or β-chain of hemoglobin. For β-thalassemia major patients, therapeutic options are either monthly red cell transfusions and chelation therapy or allogeneic stem cell transplant. Stem cell transplant is the only curative approach and success is inversely correlated with the degree of iron overload and h...
